Just one more...

Please indulge me one more time for a reality check.

Chatstack's comments on the previous post were very poignantly stated. My heart goes out to all who have been struggling to achieve the "American Dream".

In my opinion, this dream is fading for the "middle class" and certainly for the "lower income" folks.

Wages for working people have been in decline since the mid-70's. And, while we've had the illusion of propserity with SUV's, big screen TV's, etc., we all went into debt to achieve it.

I saw this great video series today. There are about 17 videos and I only made it to number 11. Check it out if you want a great class in economics. Number five is my favorite.

~Enjoy.

Gayle, what do you mean wages have been declining since hte 1970's are you saying that we make less than 2 dollars an hour, or are referring the cost of living increases not being matched by income levels. You again seem to be confused with regards to the economics
"thingy" as I am sure yo refer to it as. You need to watch a lot more videos.

@ anon 1: I encourage you to do your own research. Didn't the Star have an article on Monday..."Anderson said the current downturn is particularly severe because it follows a recovery in which moderate- and low-wage workers saw no gains".

@ anon 2: No, I'm not Claire. What you see is what you get. Everyone knows who I am and where I stand.

What research, I have done mine have you done yours. I am simply asking for clarification of your statement. I am interested in what recovery, the economy for the most part has been declining since the 2000 to date. What was keeping things going was development of realistate and other "Thingys". While the market had shown slight improvement prior to the junk loans comming to fruition, several experts have reported that this was misleading. Oh ya, yes wages had been frozen a several instances, however fields such as NURSING, Therapy meaning physical therapy, Police, fire, prison guards, teachers, and other professions have seen an increase in their wages, not to mention that minimum wage has been increased twice since 2K. So again I am not sure what you are saying????
