As Requested: What Do You Like About Fillmore?
Also, "What would you like to see in Fillmore" - Types of businesses, services, etc.
This blog is about the people, places and politics of Fillmore, California. It is designed to provide a forum for people that believe that Fillmore truly can be the best small town in Southern California.
30 Comments:
They have the best fast food!
Up till last year everything!
Until our City Council Reps. decided to act against the people.
It is great to see Patti back in. Now we need Sipes and Washburn and we can take back our town.
Then Fillmore will be again "the Best Small Town in the West".
Fillmore was and will be again the ideal place to raise a family.
Anon 302pm
The fast food remark is not a laughing matter. That is Fillmore's bread and butter.
Yet people want "nice" restaurants. A decent restaurant can't compete with cheap fast food.
7/17/2007 - 2:10pm The "Honeypot" topic of “What You Like About Fillmore” is posted.
Keep in mind, moderation of comments is enabled, so no comments show until they are “Published” or “Rejected”.
At 3:10pm “Anonymous” posts the following:
“I LIKE THE FRIENDS OF FILLMORE AND CITIZENS FOR A SAFER FILLMORE.”
At 3:12pm “CCU” posts the following:
Anon ,I do agree. The people , the agriculture and charm make Fillmore such a desirable location to raise a family. Fillmore is prosperous thanks to the newer developments and more jobs that have been created. With that said, The previous councils and planning commissions should take credit. I do appeciate (sic) their hard work that they have put out to make our town better.”
Now keep in mind the original post is not showing, so how could CCU know about the post created by Anon 3:10?
Here are a couple of plausible scenarios:
1. Anon and CCU are friends. Anon called CCU and told them what they posted. CCU then being the good friend followed up with a blind post. All within two minutes? Doubtful
2. Anon and CCU are living in the same house or work in the same office! Plausible
3. Anon and CCU are the same person! I'll take door number 3 Bob! and after reviewing the access logs, BINGO the two posts came from the same computer.
Now before the “YOU”RE HACKING INTO COMPUTERS” rears it's ugly again. To whomever posted that remark previously: Your lack of knowledge on the subject is head and shoulders above the crowd. (I cleaned that up by the way) Oh, and if your still inclined to contact the FBI here is the link. http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/
Now is there anything wrong with posting comments under the impression it is two different people, not really but your subject matter must be pretty weak if you're the one constantly propping it up.
CCU and Anon, Thank you, you put a smile on my face!
Disclaimer: In the event that this is a case of Dissociative Identity Disorder then allow me to apologize to both of you. Just let me know which one will go first!
I wouldn't mind seeing The Deer Lodge branching out into Fillmore. That place has the best Sunday brunch.
Good observation Tom Fennell.
I like your scenarios.
Now if there are several computers in one home or office. Each computer can be identified differently? Even though there is one Hub and the wireless or dial-up is from the same line?
I ask because me and my spouse both go here and blog.
Just asking about the probability that CCU and All Caps are 2 different people.
I do agree, CCU and All caps can be of one person.
Perhaps it could be someone or a cluster of peeps from City Hall?
Heartbroken:
A very quick answer to your question answer is yes. Individual computers on a specific network segment can be identified with a very high probability of accuracy.

You're right Deer Lodge and their fantastic food would be great but I see the motorcycles as an issue. The Deer Lodge has spent quite a bit on advertising in motorcycle publications and that really seems to be their core business. The Deer Lodge also has a rich history and that is part of the attraction. Cold Springs Tavern in the hills above Santa Barbara is very similar.

I'm confident the city staff has better things to do.
I would like to know who this perpetrator(s)is?
Perpetrator? What was the crime and who was the victim?
but to ease anyone who might have concerns. There is no personal information being logged just a bunch of numbers which represent traffic. I couldn't connect these numbers to a real person without a court ordered search warrant or perhaps the mystic at 126 in Piru.
Tom thats funny!I always wondered if Mystics know when their next customer will walk in the door.Or if Ms Cleo knew she was going to be indited? off topic I know, just a thought.
I don't know if this is the time or the place. But I need to comment on the dial-a-ride system in Fillmore and Santa Paula. Anyone interested?
"What I would like to see in Fillmore"
1st I would like the city to PUBLICLY justify Roy Payne's contract.Explain in detail Roys influence on City,as well as staff.
I would also like the city to explain how it is NOT a conflict of interest for our ex city manager represent the City as well as the Developers that came before him as our Manager.
I suppose we should include ex Mayors and council members.
I don’t think Mr. Payne’s situation is a unique one and far from unusual in the government sector. It’s common for people to retire and then come back as advisors, consultants or extra help.
If you’re still concerned or curious, I would suggest you look into the California Public Records Act.
Here is a link: www.thefirstamendment.org/publicrecordsact.pdf
7:58, I think you purposely missed or didn't understand the point.
I would like to know Roy L.Payne's involvement with Pinnacle Home Builders i.e. Adams Canyon Development.
giggle giggle
7:58 anonymous you are wrong
What mr. payne did is against the law and called a revolving door. he just mnaged to get in under the wire before they passed the law. so he's legal but not ethical.
Revolving Door Prohibitions
Basic Rules
Another kind of “personal financial gain” law prohibits elected officials and toplevel
managers from, in essence, trading on the relationships developed in public
service.
A public official may not influence agency decisions when the interests of
a prospective employer are at stake.89 The situation arises when an official
negotiating or has “any arrangement” concerning prospective employment with
someone with business before the agency.
Tim you are referring to MPD, which is multiple personality disorder. But in any event your research and efforts seem to be a waste of your time. Whether CCU or Anon post at the same time, two minutes apart, or from the same computer, it seems as though he/ she is simply making COMMENTS. thus it is irrelevant who what when were, just that they are being made and encouraging discussion.
Anon 12:27
Sorry but I was referring to Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), as defined by the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, is a mental condition whereby a single individual evidences two or more distinct identities or personalities, each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment.
I guess you learned something today?
I still find it really funny!
Tim
Fillmore needs a nice jewelry store(s). A good example is "The Commons" in Calabassas. If we bring in classy stores , more upscale folks will move here and SPEND MONEY HERE. The Treasure Chest and Rite Aid send the wrong signal.
Happy Voter:
I agree regarding The Commons it is a very nice. The hurdle I see is the chicken or the egg argument. A development like that requires different demographics than Fillmore currently enjoys. I don’t see business coming first hoping to attract residents.
Now before the flame throwers start up, I’m going to ask a legitimate question regarding the Elkins Ranch Golf Course.
Up in Los Osos there is a smaller golf course called Sea Pines, they have limited number of very nice accommodations and a restaurant, all on site. Has there ever been discussion on anything similar for Elkins? Elkins is in a great location and it seems to be well known.
whats the commons?
Sea Pines is a beach vacation. Where's our beach?
YOu have to work with what you've got. Fillmore's got the RR - nothing else. Thanks to all the fast food joints we've got traffic traffic traffic. The sales tax revenue isn't worht the traffic and smog and acidents. The RR people come because they like the farm tours. The good old boys have turned Fillmore into a bigger bedroom community. More fast food, more traffic, more smog, more problems. what do we get for that?
Ok Anon 7:58
If what Roy is doing is unethical.
What can be said of our City that hires unethical people?
I like Fillmore because of the small town feel, that’s why I moved here. I do however realize that in order for this town to survive and prosper there needs to be growth. Growth has always been a thorn and will always continue to be so.
I like the opposing view points presented on issues affecting this town. You’re not going to learn by only listening to people who agree with you!
Believe it or not I respect ALL of our City Council members. I feel they have a very tough job and it’s too easy to Monday morning quarterback. The same goes for City staff; I’ve found them to be extremely professional in my dealings.
I respect Gayle and her group because they are fighting for something that they believe in. Just in case you missed it, Bill of Rights, Amendment I. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. I question anyone’s patriotism who attempts to silence an opposing viewpoint!
I like the local businesses. Central Station has THE BEST burger, Nader on Central Ave. has great prices on Levis and is fun to talk with, Fillmore Rental, Patterson Hardware and Element Computers have outstanding service. Ay Chihuahua has a carne asada burrito that is so good, I can’t put it into words. I like the fact the Fillmore still sells Fireworks! I like the diverse population of Fillmore. I like it when I can hear the ranchero music from a party somewhere in the neighborhood, the bad karaoke included. I really like the fact that a large percentage of this town still waves to people they don’t know when driving by!
I’m not sure I’m getting this right or where I read it but it goes something like: “You can judge a person’s character by what upsets them.” Give it some thought!
