New Rules
I owe some of you an apology. During the campaign the rhetoric got a little hostile and ugly. I didn't monitor enough and some bad things slipped through. I thought things would calm down after the election but it seems that some people are still on their mission of destruction.
So, now I have turned on the moderator function so I can review posts before they go on. If your post is slanderous or derogatory of a named person without substantiation it will not be posted. That doesn't mean that you can't be critical of someone, including me, but be reasonable, thoughtful and factual. Ask questions of why someone did something. Maybe they have a good reason. We're all human and doing the best we can per our beliefs. Let's respect others opinions. Remember, we're all in this together. We're a small community with a lot of opportunities and we can do better.
That doesn't mean that we can't discuss the issues without disagreement on any point. There will always be something that we disagree on but that doesn't mean that we have to be rude or hostile to others. Even if they appear stubborn or thickheaded(like I've been accused of LOL).
So let's talk about it...any subject. Let's disagree and debate, learn something new, argue whatever AND have some fun.

goodluck with your blog.
Gail thanks for blocking the nasty hateful messages that some people are making. I hope they try to respect and appreciate the different viewpoints here. I watched the meeting on ch 10 and I know it’s going to be hard to pay those bills. I don’t see why we can’t look at other options if it will lower the sewer rates
GAIL , Why cant you answer the questions?
anonymous 9:47.
Okay, what's the question? Which topic or date is it under? I've been looking and can't find a specific question. Is it a rhetorical question?
"anonymous" wants to know(in a prairie dog kinda way) about independent expenditures during the election.
The FPPC is always available to answer your questions anonymous but I will tell you that any individual can spend up to $1,000 of their own money independently to support a candidate.
Ruling:
"Independent expenditures made by individuals to support a political candidate are considered a form of free speech. Because independent expenditures do not involve giving money to a candidate, the courts have found that they do not represent a corrupting influence."
Once again, our prairie dogs are trying to compare a grassroots campaign to the Friends of Fillmore PAC.
Hi Gayle,
So glad to see you are reviewing comments before they are posted.
I have read some of the vulgar, unnecessary comments, very shocking to read.
I was glad to see they were deleted.
Those comments were making this wonderful site undesirable.
It is sad though that there are Adults out there that are so disrespectful to you and others.
This Blog is a great opportunity for all to vocalize their opinions.
Especially being the fact that this is the Cyber world.
A great opportunity for all to learn and educate each other.
I must also add, the City of Fillmore lost in the recent Election.
We lost a fantastic, Well-Educated and respected researcher. YOU!!!
I may not have responded recently.
Yet I do read all these comments and your research.
You impress me every time I read this Blog.
Thanks Gayle for all the Information you have made accessible to all of us here in Fillmore.
Gayle, I feel that sometimes it is necessary to "monitor" freedom of speech for obvious reasons but I think that many people are turned off by this new "babysitting" feature. Plus, seeing that at one point you have received over 100 comments to one single post, the babysitter function would seem somewhat tenacious. Please don't shut us up. The city council and other forms of government already turn a deaf ear towards a public who is desperate to be heard. Please don't add to this scrutiny. If the FCC allows it so should you. No bad words of course. Gayle, tear down this wall.
Marc O: No worries. Everyone will still have their opportunity to be heard and make their points.
Nobody wants to be a "babysitter" of adults. We'll see how it goes and if the language and intent stay in an adult realm we'll turn off the moderation.
I've enjoyed most of the comments here and even if they are critical it helps to see another side's opinion.
Gracy: Thanks for the kind words. It's true that there is a lot of research required to keeep up with our city government and the issues of Fillmore. I don't know how a person that works full time can keep up.
Gayle the only thing that I would like to see is an improvement in your understanding of the research you conduct. Everytime you present information it seems to be refuted easily. It seems that while your research is time consuming that you do not understand the bigger picture, nor are willing to conduct effective research that will actually cause a change. All the research you have done for vetreat was completed destroyed not only at the last city council meeting, but in Santa Paula as well. Yet you keep on with the up hill battle of trying to change the minds of those far more qualified to make decisions that have already done the research and determined the best course of action.
I believe that you truly need to spend more time at City Hall to determine what research will actually help our city, not spur conspiracy theories.
Your presentation of information is good, but your comprehension of the information presented to you seems to be lacking in logic.
Take a note from your friend Patti, she voted yes to everything at the last city council meeting. While Patti and yourself seem to promote change and listening to the citizens of Fillmore, and questioning the actions of the city council. All that Patti did was conduct business as usual, only with a little flare for the camera to playcate to those that thought Patti was a good choice. She is transparent and if one just listens to what she is saying and than looks at her actions can see just how transparent she truly is. This does not help your cause. The actions of both of you lost a lot credit as a result of the game the two of seem to be playing. It was like a rehersed play the way the two of feed off of eachother. Yet in the end a YES VOTE TO EVERYTHING. Actions speak far louder than words and so far you and Patti's actions are showing why Patti got booted in the election from 2 years ago.

First you have issues with the Kennedy's and want them too shut up and now for some odd reason you want a OPEN debate,(NO MONITORING OF WORDS) which is it? Hurry decide.
Gayle,
Thankyou for explaining AGAIN to the crazy prairie dogs who just LOVE to stir the pot . You deserve a medal for the patience .
What I think is interesting is that while Gayle stated that we can criticize her, she is not posting statements that do so. Talk about censorship, this is rediculous. What a happy blog to not even put posts in that show exactly were Gayle stands on the issues. Confused, lacking a bigger picture perspective and hapily going with Patti's flow and version of Things. What a shame

For the record, I have no issues with the kennedys' aka "ClaireK". In fact I have never even acknowledge ClaireK directly in the open forum ever since Gayle created it a few months ago. You are welcome to scroll down Gayle's many postings and read my comments from the beginning. You will find that my opinions are directed towards the issues and not at any persons who differ from my points of view. My "concern" with the moderator function is that people who have strong opinions may feel unwelcome in a forum that is monitored by one single individual who will determine the realm of adult content. I nor yourself should never stand for foul language but the conclusion by one person that a comment is bias or vulgar is purely subjective in the eyes of an entire public.
If this was my forum I would make everyone register.
NO anonymous posting allowed.
NO foul language.
NO personal attacks of any kind.
NO name calling unless you can provide facts.
NO accusations without solid facts.
*Poems, riddles, words of the day, uneducated and obnoxious comments are allowed as long as they conform to the above rules.
*Use of SPELL CHECK stongly recommended.

I appreciate your support of everyones ability to express their views in a dignified manner. My husband and I have always conducted ourselves in that fashion. Some might say we are rude, and downright mean. When running for public office always expect public opinions to be floating around. We will always be watchdogs for our town, if you dont agree , well then please move on. The Fillmore Hawks are a group of concerned families in Fillmore that believe in open ,accountable government. Most likely all council members will be critiqued.
marc o: I have not had time to go back and read all of your posts, but this one makes great sense.
I appreciate your "concerns" but you must have noticed that in the past I have never made an attempt to make anyone feel unwelcome and have even encouraged all comments.
However, that time has passed and I can't guarantee that I won't screen out some potentially deserving comments. Not likely though.
I have also in the past invited others to participate as guest/team bloggers who can create their own topics and moderate comments if they wish.
You are welcome to become a team member. Your writing is clear and understandable and your comments are reasonable(and you use spellcheck!). So think about it. You can't be anonymous though.
anonymous: (prairie dog) There is one anonymous who is not getting their comments approved. She/he continues to senselessly attack. However, it is not necessarily the attcks that I object to. It is more about a writing "style" that is barely comprehensible. It is difficult to respond to and I don't have time to parse out every thought.
Here are some tips from a writing teacher..."Short paragraphs separated by a double space are the key to grabbing the reader's eye and keeping them with you.
You don't want to lose readers because they are immediately assaulted by a blur of words."
However, that time has passed and I can't guarantee that I won't screen out some potentially deserving comments. Not likely though.

Gayle come on please, these comments do not make sense. This is not an english lit class, nor is it a valid form of any class or business venture hat requires grammer, spelling, punctuation to be perfect. As far as making sense, I believe that what you are saying make sense to YOU. You have been continually shown another perspective, facts, and suggestions yet you do not recognize any concepts or premises other than your own. You have been proven wrong time and time again, and have been shown how to improve your public voice. yet again you consider this to be bashing and your defense is that grammer and spelling are at issue. This completely misses the point. You have been repeatidly asked to be ethical and moral in your statements and convictions, yet you are not, only spreading mis information. When someone with some commen sense and intellegence makes a comment you DELETE IT. This is a shame. You have so much potential, yet choose to hide behind grammer and spelling instead of being able to truly discuss the issues.
