There have been some anonymous posters who say that I'm no growth, Patti's no growth, etc...(who would probably chop out those 3 words to use on a campaign ad) but they are wrong.
I hope you all take a look at this great development up in Davis. Now this I would love to see in North Fillmore. Leaving out the industrial it could be close to the same size. I like it so much that I would invest in it and probably buy a home.

I'd live there. I've always been a little concerned with homeowners associations but it seems like a nice setup.

Sorry to continue, the cost in Fillmore for these homes Million + , not affordable, two, they are very close together, the difference is the back and front yards are larger. But the houses look about 6-8 feet apart, More of the same as what is in Fillmore or being proposed, we need more space between the homes in my opinion, Third the examples are from a different state, not a land locked by natural barriers town, but rather open and vast amounts of land. I believe one was from Michigan.
Another aspect I did not like was NO FENCES, the good news is at least neighbors can get together and make a community pool, but talk abouit lack of privacy, at least a fence give you some privacy.
With regards to the housing market it seems that there are lot of factors at play here, one joke loans that are comming due and cuasing loans to be upside down, or in the least with horrible inflated monthly payments, a realistate market that has been inflated with its pricing, that the expert from Wall street are saying is simply adjusting in the usual cycle of things, three, prices for homes to high combined with to many on the market becuase of the unethical business practices of certain loan companies that did anything to get a person in a home at any cost down stream, and others
Economic reports are showing that the US economy is stable, with slight flucuations, the California Economy is stable, so recession or market adjustment you decide, the thing to remember is that it is all a prediction, and sometimes predictions become self fullfilling profecies

S Spitler is a talking piece for some of the people like Campbell, Payne etc who has bought out our Town.
She lied in her letter during the campaign,stating she is neutral.
She works for Payne and Campbell.
Reality here, they are upset.
Conaway does not deserve nothing but to be thrown out of office.
Cuervas deserve the Mayoral position.

It seems the Prairie Dogs are at it again with their gossiping small town talk. If it amusing that Brewster would come back to Fillmore to attend a City Council meeting . What I remember about Brewster is that she thrives to stir the pot amongst those other cheerleaders such as Uber, Spitler,McMahan and the others that have no decent way to better our coomunity. Remember the divisiveness is what they thrive on since thats all they can claim now, since their lynch mob partially failed. I say go back to Oregon Ms. Brewster , I hear the otters and beavers are a nuisance to the homeowners there!

anonymous: I went back and read the letters on the Sespe Sun from Bob Stroh and Shirley Spitler. I have to admit that Bob's comments were objective, sensible and did not try to malign any of the other council members. Shirley's comments were just the opposite. I still have a hard time understanding all this hostility. I guess I was gone too long and living in a different world.
Anonymous 5:14: The homes in the links are in Davis, California, near Sacramento. Their prices are similar to ours. The density of the project is 7.7/acre. The setting and landscaping promote open space and privacy. It also wasn't on a vast amount of land - I think it was 68 acres or so.
Oops my mistake, but davis housing market is not the same as here as far as I know, the pricing is less than in ventura county, which I believe is the in the top five highest priced homes in the state
For those of you that want cuevas as mayor, this is a huge mistake, you all talk about hating to be talked down to, she is the queen of this, her voting record has been all about massive growth that designed for the blue color worker thus extremely high density, not to mention that she is all about upholding the mexican constitution, she all about latino, how persecuted they are, how they are discriminated against, etc... her agenda is not for the people of Fillmore, but solely for the latino community in Fillmore. The will be a major mistake as mayor or mayor protem.
As for spitler and the gossiping in here about her, conway, cambell, and payne, think of it this way, I do not see them on a blog frequently making slanderous statements, or bashing others. Just you all, hypocritical don't you think. All this talk about they are gossip mongers when in fact that is what you are doing right now. Why cann't spitler be neutral even though she works for Cambell, she works for him she does not have to agree with him on his politics, its is call a job, and for those of you that feel conway should be out of office, in my opinion he and ray are the only sensible, even, intellengent council members left, I hope that they can keep it together with a pot head, a pro everything latino and screw the rest, and a I speak with forked tongue so you better watch your back council members

In regards to Shirley Spitler, yes she continues to make divisive comments and tells only half truths. For example , shirley continues to bring up Patti Walker consulting with Mr. Francis , but shirley fails to mention Patti wasnt on the city council. Patti was merely doing her job which is a PARALEGAL. One other item shirley doesnt mention is that she works with Payne and Campbell. So thats why the biased ,divisive politics dominate that bunch. These prairie dogs have nothing else but too gossip, divide and slander peoples names who they might disagree with. If I were shirley or even roger campbell , I would be a good sport and try to work with all council members and city staff. Again no ones perfect and if they continue this game of the attack of the gossiping hens , then by all means let talk about rogers business dealings and his past transgressions.

By now, I have spent a lot of time with Patti Walker and it appears that she has only the city and its citizen’s best interests at heart.
I guess I am that naïve. And until you can come up with a realistic explanation I will stay that way.
Now, with that said, I want to make an announcment(I will probably do this as a topic when I get time). Months ago, I deleted any comments that were personal attacks. During the campaign it was so hectic that I didn't have time to monitor quickly, so a few negative personal comments got through. I let stand any negative comments against Patti or myself just because I didn't think it would be right to delete comments just because they might be negative. At the time and up until recently, I have ignored the comments that were off topic and just consisted of trash talk. I just thought we all ignored it.
I want to issue a warning that even though I want everyone to feel free to express their opinions and I support free speech, I won't tolerate childish name calling or offensive remarks. Okay? So, if your comment is deleted just know that in spite of my high tolerance you have crossed the line.
I believe you are all missing the boat in regards to the lawsuits. Why so many lawsuits? Well, the city doesnt really use the LAW when making decisions. Maybe council members should have a cram course in ethics , business law and environmental law. What do you say Conaway, Dressler and Villegas aand Cuevas?
In regards to the censure , It was Congressman Elton Gallegly not assemblyman. Is that Smedley's only accomplishment?

Gayle I would say that you have crossed the line and are naive. Patti is only interested in herself and her agenda at any cost. Examples: her comments at city council meetings, I remember watching her get up and speak at one of the city council meetings and wanting to throw the TV accross the room because she started her commentary with "what ROYAL PAIN" refering to Roy Payne, this was unprofessional and unkind, she lashed out against staff almost at every meeting she spoke at. To what end, to get elected, to get her name at the forefront, at what cost, this city.
With regards to the censure, the reason she put her name on the letter was obvious, so that it carried more wieght, CONGRESSMAN Elton Galegly would not have given her letter as much consideration if it did not have her name as a councilperson on it and she knew that, thus she put, the whole issue is that she represented herself and not the council, she deserved what she got.
The law suites, it is irrelevant if she was on the council, or was acting as a paralegal or was getting paid or not, she violated her oath of office when she provided the material from the executive session. Again, to what end, her self serving end, at what cost, the tax payors and the city. To compound things FOF sends out a flyer with Truths in it about her voting record, horrible pics, but truths none the less what does she do, she sends out a flyer about her voting record of the EIR, something completely different, a twist of reality if you will. This again was unethical and immoral, it was a lie to the people, a card shell game if you will. than again what can one expect from a councilperson that voted for 894 Homes in north Fillmore, that now screams how everyone is against her and she is so rightous in her voting record for 894 homes. The fact is who knows were she stands on density in Fillmore, she flip flops so much, and how much of that was simply to get elected. She is rude, condescending, and anytime you or her are given a response to your rhetoric and demands of proof all you and she can do is focus on twisting it, ignoring it and pretending the information was never there, or trying to say something is black when in fact it is white. Everytime someone provides proof, you and she never respond to it, admit your error, and than state how you grew from it, instead it is twist twist twist, and shell game after shell game. I for one cannot wait, I know that she will open her mouth and get herself into a lot of trouble, and than the people will learn their mistake and who knows maybe we can than start a recall inititive for PATTI, I'll bet I can get enough votes simply using the same tactics used for the referendum. I'm fairly new to town so not up with City Hall, but it can't be true that Mr. Ristau makes $196,000 for this size of town and we still pay a retired City manager. Tell me this isn't so.

The amount you are quoting for Tom Ristau's salary includes benefits.
I have never met Shirley Spitler and she probably is a nice person but it's clear that she holds some kind of grudge against Patti. But she's not the only one. I just wish I could figure it out.
The lawsuit stuff just doesn't seem like that big of a deal. We have a lot of lawsuits and from what I've observed in the last several months, it appears that we enter them cavalierly rather than work to avoid them.

bean counter: I agree that we pay some of our staff very well for the size of our town and budget. I'm not saying they are undeserving, just that we can't afford it.
When I lived in Colorado, one of the top Mayors in the country, John Hickenlooper(more like a city manager), cut his own salary 25% and laid off half his staff to help balance the budget. This bucks the trend of most cities that use the corporate CEO model to run cities and determine salaries and benefits.
You also had good questions about the motorcycle bills. I wasn't aware of that. The biggest percentage of our budget goes to police protection. For the population and size of our town we're probably paying a lot more than we should be.
Santa Paula's police expenses are about $4.5 million and ours are about $3.5 million. We're clearly paying per capita quite a bit more and a lot fewer officers. In 2007 our police expenses are going up 12%. Did you get a 12% increase in your pay?
