A new day...

What a finish!

Congratulations Patti! Congratulations Laurie! Well done all.

Here are the results from the polls. I think there are probably still some absentee ballots to count but we don't know that they will change the outcome.

PATTI WALKER 903 25.72%
LAURIE J. HERNANDEZ 736 20.96%
KEN SMEDLEY 667 19.00%
GAYLE WASHBURN 644 18.34%
DIANE MCCALL 334 9.51%
LINDA S. ROBERTS 221 6.29%

I think that Patti's huge lead proves that the negative campaigning does NOT work here in Fillmore anymore. The community wants a change.

Patti has the most loyal supporters and there is a good reason for that. They can see how intelligent, dedicated and hardworking she is.

I am very proud of my results and want to thank those voted for me.

I also want to thank sincerely from the bottom of my heart the excellent campaign committee that came together and ran the best campaign that Fillmore has ever seen. Bob Stroh our campaign manager; Gracy Donahue and Donna Cruz, treasurers; Ralph Rees and Bill Steiger, volunteer coordinators; Jim Cruz, signmaster; Jamey Brooks, Steven Walker, George Krestyn, Bob Smith, creative arts; Brian Sipes and Jeff Hansen, fund raising; Nola Harding, meet and greet coordinator. All of you wore more than one hat including brainstorming and advice along with Charlie, Maryellen and Steven Alvarez, Gloria Pagliano, Sarah Hansen, Jack and Joleen Stethem, Paul and Carmen Tholl, Todd VanDeMheen.

There are so many wonderful people to thank. All of the "Walker-Washburn-Walkers" did such a fantastic job reaching out to the community and getting our message delivered door to door. So much work.

We also are blessed to have the support and love of our spouses and families who worked in the background making sure we take care of ourselves.

Finally, I want to thank my running mate, Patti Walker, for having the faith in me to think that with my inexperience that I could even run. I know that we will still be "working together" for Fillmore's future.

What's all the comotion at City Hall?
I hear there is a bunch of Sheriffs' at City Hall.
I heard on my scanner that Ken Smedley is being thrown out of City Hall and he refuses to let go of the Drapes and the Gavel.
Mayor Pro Tem, it was temporary all right!!!!!

anon 10:24 it's so mean to kick a guy when he's down. But tempting I must admit.

What do you think now- Will Cuevas be Mayor? Or do you think the woman will get bypassed again?

I agree with the person who said Hernandez took votes away from Smedley backfiring the big boy scheme of FOF.

I'd like to sit down and have a cup of coffee with Chappy some day. Seems he hates city hall but at the same time he's trying to run it. And everybody talks about him in hushed tones around here. If he's from a godly family and a pillar in the community why is everyone so afraid of him?

Sorry but I've only been here a few years. It takes me time to figure out my conspiracy theories. I think I'll attend Chappy's next meeting of the Birch Society. I find him intriguing.

The only problem with the FOF thing is, as the back room big boys are bringing in more development, they are bringing in more buyers for their homes; in turn more voters who are for SOAR (the malignancy FOF wishes to eliminate.)

Congrats to Patti Walker. Our family is semi pleased with the results. We do wish could of made it, but she did fabulous. Im also pleased Smedley is finished and the voters rejected candidates that dont have a solid stance on issues. It takes leadership to a council member.
Again congrats Patti Walker.

This is definitely a new day!! Congrats to PattI Walker for receiving almost 1000 votes from the nearly 6,000 registered voters in Fillmore. That's almost 17% of all registered citizens many of whom weren't too lazy to participate in Americas democratic process. And less than 7% of the total Fillmore population. I ask that Patti Walker listen to not only the 8 or so persons that consistently stand before the city council and scold them for building houses, but to the citizens who want to see progress in Fillmore for the sake of commerce and economic development. I am not one to recall a city official for listening to the lazy majority. We only represent 93% of the people.

marco..
You forgot everyone that is 18yrs and older and a citizen is eligible to vote.
Those who are not registered had the opportunity to sign up and vote.
Everyone had a choice to vote or not.
Now the 93% that didn’t vote, need to sit back and let the voters decide.
The Voters overwhelmingly voted for change.
Smedley is out, next in 2 yrs the rest.

Wow Marco, “I am not one to recall a city official for listening to the lazy majority. We only represent 93% of the people.” Just how do you communicate with this 93%? Vulcan mind meld, clairvoyance or maybe some sort of secret drop points?

Marco,
Correction....
Patti receieved "25.72%" of the Votes out of 6 running.
Now that she won on top and stayed on "TOP" to the very end.
Her win should not minimized

It is time to tell the truth and give Patti Walker the credit she deserves.

Silly Marco,
If you would have gone to public hearings on the N.Fillmore plan you would have seen at least 50 people packing Council chambers out (not 8). Standing room only if you got there late. And they were not scolding the council for building houses. They were asking for houses, instead of high density apartments and condos, Or at least less units. Don't you ever go to the meetings (oh that's right I've never seen you there) watch them televised or read the paper or ? So many rumors in Fillmore. And lately everything's been all about multi use business offices at the railroad.

Anon 11:11 we know Patti or Cecilia are lext in line for Mayor. If they don't get it something is wrong with the system and it overrides women becoming Mayor. Of course I've only been here 7 years and don't know if we've had any female Mayors. Somehow I doubt we have.

Gracy what are you talking about Marco does not need to be corrected, he stated that she received 1000 votes from the 6000 registered voters he was not talking about the number of people that voted. Again correcting those that do not need to be corrected, your montra.

I read there are 71,000 absentee ballots not counted. Some from Fillmore.
My husband said it is about 1,000 is that true?
I read about 1755 voted here on Nov 7th.
On average it is about 2400 - 3000 when it is not a General Election.
Now, the figures will add up.
Wow!! Gayle don't concede, not yet!!
