Countdown wrapup
Yay! Today is the day. Time to get out there and vote. No matter who you are voting for, if you've been on this site and participated, you probably have a lot more information than you did when the campaign first began. You certainly now know more about me than anyone would ever want to.
I've never done this before and it is certainly intense. It's not easy to put yourself out there for inspection under a microscope and to take criticism. All candidates should be proud that they are willing to do that to serve their community.
There have even been a few really "juicy" items. I was not aware of the Mayor Pro-tem controversy. It is a legitimate question as to why Cecilia Cuevas was bypassed if it was her turn to be Mayor. Why would someone be chosen who is up for re-election? Just a disclaimer here...I do think Ken has conducted himself admirably as Mayor Pro-tem so that is not the point. The point is it should have gone to someone who was not up for re-election.
I know there have been a lot of comments that might give you more questions than answers. I'll guess that a lot of those comments are coming from the Friends of Fillmore. Yes, they are here and working hard to confuse you and discredit some candidates. If I've given them a free ride I'm okay with that.
There are some here who took the time to go to city hall and search for the truth. I applaud your efforts and encourage everyone to do the same.
There have been complaints that the blog is the cause of hurtful remarks and attacks. I think if the Friends of Fillmore hadn't been participating, things would have been a lot more peaceful. Yes, we have had the influence of clairek that has been controversial but she's entitled to her opinion. I did make an effort to keep personal comments to a minimum and deleted any messages that were personal attacks on another candidate. But, you have to admit that there were a lot of attacks against Patti and I that could have been deleted. I allowed them to stand and we faced the attacks as legitimate questions or comments. That's part of being a candidate.
I woke up this morning realizing that I had made a mistake in my letter to the Sespe Sun. Rosa Martel does have a point that I completely missed in my hurry to get caught up on all the comments. I think her point was that she did not give permission to be on a joint flyer. If so, I apologize to her for not seeing the whole picture.
I also apologize to any whose questions or comments I missed or didn't have time to address. I think there were close to 500 comments posted!
Good luck to all candidates and come back tomorrow. We'll still have a lot to talk about.

I would like to thankyou both for running a smooth and clean campaign. You both have the ethics and morals to be superb council members. I hope today will turn to our favor. If it doesnt, I hope everyone will continue to be active in our city government. We all know our opponents have out spent us 2-1. The FOF PAC and CFSF PAC have desperately savaged a negative ,deceitful campaign against you gals and to me thats just sick and plain deceitful. We have all along ran a positive , informative campaign. Im so proud and honored to have been apart of the Walker-Washburn campaigns. Again thankyou for the courage and being the leaders of the truth.

Yes I just now voted for you and Patty. And walked away from the polls wonering why the people who volunteer at the polling place only offer "I voted" stickers to some people and not others. Could it be because I'm Republican? And they were nicer to the people who don't speak English too and handed me my ballot backwards and all mixed up so I had to fix the forms. Okay so I admit they are volunteers.
Then there was hardly any room at the poll booth to fit my cards and my sample ballot booklet. Almost as if it's a conspiracy not to let us have our info there and make us mark the ballot improperly.
Then my numbers on my two ballot cards did not match. Call me suspicious but I felt uncomfortable with that and their voting machine. I ponder if the globalists introduced the machines to the public to get us accostomed to the idea of a machine counting things so later they could be introduced ISTEAD of a card and then a system which could be hacked into more easily. Does anyone else feel the same or am I just paranoid? I know I'm just paranoid.

I've never been to a polling place that had it together. You hit the nail on the head with "Volunteers".
They do their best and wouldn't want the job under the best circumstances.
I just voted (for W&W) at St Francis and an elderly woman had a problem understanding her cards---they asked her if she wanted another card to vote again. Is that kosher? Also, my cards weren't in any kind of sleeve for confidentiallity. They need monitoring!
for the people who cast their votes for hernandez and smedley, dont whimper and moan when 894 homes are built in north fillmore because of the rubber stamp council.
I think our main objective should be to defeat Smedley. Hernandez is obviously tied in with Smedley and McCall is another one who is in denial on the ineptness and corruption that placates city hall.
but hey, maybe next time we'll see "minibudweiser" on the ballot! I'm certain we'd some real positive change then!

I voted for Smedley and Hernandez as did my family because we want to see progressive change for Fillmore to benefit the businesses and overall commerce in our community.
Just voted for Washburn/Walker as did my family.
My husband and I just voted . Looks like a great turnout according to the poll workers. We voted for Patti Walker and Gayle Washburn. My daughter got a educational lesson on voting. I encourage all families to take their kids with them to the polls.

Claire you actually voted, wow was this a first, no register voter list has ever had you as a voter, maybe your children taught you a lesson and thus you finally voted.
I just got back from the poles and just voted for Diane, I figure it was a waste to vote for anyone else. You all should be ashamed of your campaigns, except for Diane who seems to be the only honest person in the bunch. Maybe next time we will not have be inidated with such a bunch of BS, hopefully Cicilia will not be running, and god help us if Patti and Gayle run, all that will result is a whole lot more smut, viscous and malitiou attacks, misleading information, an inability to understand the issues, and whole lot of out of town inlfuence from business owners, lawyers, and the like. Who ever commented about the ballots: the instructions printed inside the voting booths stated that you could request up to two new cards if you goofed up. I got so excited about voting no on 85 that I marked the wrong spot and was given a new card. No sticker for me either, maybe they ran out, it sure wasn't because I was Republican. I agree though that there is not enough room for these huge ballots. Maybe they want us to all vote by mail. Some way of keeping the marked ballot covered would be a good thing. It would have been possible to read the marks of the person waiting in front of me to slip the ballot into the machine, but of course I did not try. Hope Patty and Gayle win after all this effort!
I agree it seemed as though privacy was out the door, I did not like that aspect of the ballot. It is interesting though how a lot of Campaign voter sites personel do not know a lot of the laws regarding what a legal voter can or can not do. I have heard that they turned away a lot of provisional voters not knowing that they can vote on a provisional ballot even if they are not assigned to that voter location.
Looked on the county website. RESULTS ARE IN. The people have spoken. Walker and Hernandez were the two who won City Council. Although there still must be certification of signitures and all. I am sorry Gayle...
It looks like Smedley got what he deserves for the misery he put Walker through two years ago. God always vindicates does He not Patti? Sweet victory. Enjoy. We appreciate all you do.
Gayle I'm proud of you because you did not even initially plan on running but you still did really well at the ballot. This says to me a lot of people appreciate what you are doing for our community. If you're up to running again next time I think you may do better after people realize they made a mistake not getting you in there. Besides I'm pretty sure Cuevas would be booted out next time around. And next time there would be three spots open. Soooo. Perhaps you, McCall, and Roberts have another shot at it.
Why doesn't anyone realize what Feinstein really is. And why are people still dilluded by the lie of abortion on demand? This is grievous indeed. Oh well. At least we still have the governator (who stifled the gays getting our kids through the schools) and Gallegly is in. McClintock too. Strickland as well.
now my husband is telling me he's not sure the results of the vote count are final yet. Oh brother. Will the agony ever end?

What's all the comotion at City Hall?
I hear there is a bunch of Sheriffs' at City Hall.
I heard on my scanner that Ken Smedley is being thrown out of City Hall and he refuses to let go of the Drapes and the Gavel.
Mayor Pro Tem, it was temporary all right!!!!!
Well hopefully things will not get to out of control at city hall, who knows maybe they can smoke a bowl with Lauri before each meetin, or at the minimum have a coktail party befure, during and after the city council meetings.
I just hope that Patti can control herself and keep the to big picture and what is best for Fillmore, I hope that she can treat the staff with respect and will be able to get a long with the other city council members. I am sure that Cecilia is glad that this will take her out of the forefront of contraversy at city hall. But, hopefully the work of the people will in their minds as move foward.
Gayle, I wish the best of luck in your future endeavors, it has been a pleasure communicating with you in this blog and I while Gracy and ClaireK have been a thorn to this blog, I appreciate the time and consideration and enegery that you have put into answering my questions and explaining your perspective of the issues. while we may dissagree on a few things, one thing is for sure we both agree that we want what is best for Fillmore. I just wish Diane and Gayle got in. I think that they would have had more influence on the future of Fillmore and took us to a higher level. Nothing personal it never was just looking for information and idealogy. But, I will say this, Gracy and ClaireK this blog would have been a lot different if you had not made things personal

The next four years will result in chaos, once again, for our Council, for our staff, and for others in town who have to put up with the 'My Way or the Highway, and if not I'll litigate' attitude that prevailed from 2000 to 2004. This blog, clearly, is NOT for civilized te a te; no, instead, anybody who espouses a different point of view gets vilified by the Twin 'C's... LOL that was a good one anon, it seems as though FOF may have the last laugh with Lauri on the council. next time you will need a lot more votes to get the job done, with three seats plus patti that is that majority you need. as for the town back, this is my town as well and while I like Gayle and wish she was on the council insteat of Patti, we will have to wait and see how she does.

Rumor has it the Citizens of Fillmore are starting a Re-Call against Steve Conaway a Ray Dressler. The people have decided they are Griffin boys and we want them "OUT"!!!!
