Sales Tax Data
I thought you all might want to see this. We're actually doing better on sales tax per capita than Santa Paula and Moorpark. Santa Paula has a Kmart and Moorpark has a lot of retail.
2005 Per Capita Sales Tax Revenue
The City's(Santa Paula) sales tax data consultant, The Hdl Companies, recently
produced a report on the per capita sales tax ranking of the cities and
unincorporated portions of counties in California for 2005. Of the 535
agencies listed, Vernon was number 1 at $47,798 per capita. Beverly
Hills was $656. Here are how the 10 cities of Ventura County rank:
101 Ventura $241
112 Thousand Oaks $234
160 Camarillo $189
250 Simi Valley $142
264 Oxnard $137
274 Ojai $132
355 Fillmore $ 92
379 Moorpark $ 80
409 Santa Paula $ 69
487 Port Hueneme $ 40

I appreciate the facts, but I don't think that this report took into consideration Santa Paula and Moorpark's close proximity to Ventura and Simi Valley? Or the fact that Moorpark has NO major car dealerships comparing to Fillmore (a city twice as small) having 2? Not to mention a tourist train catering to "out of towners", worthless antique shops, no place for men to buy a suit or absolutely no businesses that sell major home appliances, big screen TV's or a pair of ski's?
I guess that's what makes it so amazing. That's a lot of big macs...
so true......both sides will agree I'm sure. ;)
